1. LINE
This chatting app is everything for me. It is what i tap on my phone when i woke up. Free chatting? YES. Free video call? YES. Cute sticons (sticker emoticons)? YAASSS! I think this is my only legitimate reason why i downloaded this app, seriously. Just please look how cute it is?
2. PATH
I don't know if this app is popular in other countries but it is definitely No.1 social media in Indonesia. In fact, most of my friends are not even updating their twitter anymore since you can connect every single post/moments to twitter. For those who didn't know what Path is, it is called "private social media" it used to limit our circle/friends for only 150 friends but i think it has been changed to 500 friends so i guess it is no longer "private"?
Anyways, why is it so popular here? because i think this app is like an all-in-one app for social media. Where you are, where are you with, what are you listening to, what are you reading, and what are you watching, upload a photo (and meme) or a video. All that can be updated with this app, you can even update what time you go to bed and wake up (i never use this, i think this is ridiculous and TMI).
3. YOUTUBE
I don't know about you, but i'm feeling 22. No, sorry. I mean I don't know about you but Youtube has been my favorite app for the past 1-2 years now. Watching videos I've subscribed is my everyday ritual after i got home and just browsing tutorials, beauty/fashion guru stuff, comedy or any kinds of videos basically are my activities before going to bed.
4. ZOMATO
This app is revolutionary! I am a big fan of food blogger (unfortunately I am NOT a food blogger). I love food, I love trying out new places to eat. Basically this app can tell you where to eat around wherever you are (but it is currently available in 20 countries, you can check if this app is available in your country here) they also gives you recommendation on recently opened or the trendiest (is this a word?) place in town. You can see the restaurant's menus before even visiting this place from this app, so you can prepare the budget before you go. Isn't it genius? I can browse "where to eat" for hours on this app. Oh! and another great feature, you can give reviews on places you've visited. The more reviews/photos you've uploaded, supposedly makes you an expert in a certain area and I've red people are getting invited to a food testing or getting discount/free vouchers from writing reviews on this app.
5. DUOLINGO
Don't want to spend money on taking foreign language class? go download this app. I think I am done signing myself up to a language course since my last one, Mandarin. It was a real nightmare. One level and I am done! Since I am currently working full time and Jakarta's traffic is a nightmare, I don't think I can come to the class on time, ever.
This app gives you a thorough lessons yet easy to understand because you are exercising as you are learning, this makes the lesson getting into my brain faster rather than listening to a chapter first then exercising later. So far I've passed the first checkpoint on French. There are other languages to learn as well such as Spanish, German, Italian and others, check them out here.
6. WAZE
My holy grail app and probably other people living in Jakarta as well. This app looks like in between maps and social media. The greatest thing about this app is, it can tell you where heavy traffics are, although it is not always 100% accurate, but most of the time it is. How did this app works? If you did not manually clicking turn off the app on your setting, this app will still running in the background and you are "unconsciously" contributing to give "report" about your speed, your location so the app will take that information and share it to the app users. You can also give a tip to other "wazers" nearby by giving reports if there is an accident ahead, road construction and even attaching picture with it. You can also chat with other wazers if needed.
So that's my 6 favorite and most clicked apps on a daily basis and no, I don't have an Instagram account just because i don't feel i need one, yet. Not that I am being a hipster or something but for me, the need to share my photos has been provided through Path. Hope my reviews helps and informative for you.
EnjoyReading!
